Newport based, iconic, ragga-metal outfit, Skindred have stormed into the rock charts with their latest album ‘Smile’. Dropped on the 4th of August, well received by fans and critics alike, the outfit have returned with their eighth recorded album; just as impressive and exciting as the day they started out.

Chart-topping hits, such as ‘Nobody’, ‘Pressure’, and ‘Gimme That Boom’ are characterised by incredible and unforgiving guitar riffs, thundering drumbeats, and a sublime fusion of reggae vocals.

Punching through with a relentless guitar riff forcibly capturing the listener’s attention, ‘Gimme That Boom’ ties extraordinary vocal work with tireless melodic guitar. The song seamlessly fuses Skindred’s robust rock essence with a refreshing reggae vibe- both harmonious and enthralling, listeners can’t help but be sucked in by Skindred’s sound.

Dynamic and engaging visuals bounce through the track’s music video, perfectly reflecting the hyped-up exciting energy of the song.

Hit tracks from ‘Smile’, such as ‘Gimme That Boom’ and ‘Our Religion’ play with Skindred’s traditional reggae/rock style, drawing in and impressing die-hard fans whilst still managing to pull in a fresh audience.

‘Set Fazers’ is another favourite from the album. Hard Hitting and more aggression filled, ‘Set Fazers’ leans heavily into the band’s signature sound and is reminiscent of older tracks like ‘Selector’. Dominated with a driving, prominent beat, ‘Set Fazers’ builds in intensity, ultimately reaching a highly effective climax that surges an electrifying effect into the listener.

If you’re a ska metal enthusiast yearning for a vibrant and persistently captivating sound, ‘Smile’ should be at the top of your album listen list- who knows, it might become your new favourite.
