Straying away from their usual darkened deathcore sound, Alpha Wolf are shaking up the metal scene with their recent release ‘Sucks 2 Suck’ that can be described as no other than nu-metal.

Released on the 24th of January, I stumbled across this track accidentally as it appeared in the recommended section of my playlist. But I have to say I was immediately enticed. As an avid nu-metal fan I became instantly immersed in the tracks bouncy hip-hop beats combined with rough vocal growls and metalcore riffs.
‘Sucks 2 Suck’ plays with catchy vocals, pummeling riffs and scratchy lead guitar. It’s refreshing to see the outfit experimenting outside of their usual genre. In this track, we really see a fun and energetic side to Alpha Wolf. This release comes with the unexpected feature of rapper ICE-T. Although I have taken to this track very well, and it has now taken up comfortable residence in my playlist, I do have to say that I was mildly disappointed with ICE-T's feature. His part pierces through ahead of the track’s breakdown, filling up just a verse of the track with a mediocre chant: I feel as though this section had so much potential in the song, and yet with ICE-T's feature the potential was regrettably not met. The strongest section of ICE-T's feature was at the end when he calls out ‘This is Alpha Wolf motherfucker. You wanna die?’
Alongside ‘Sucks 2 Sucks’ comes the release of ‘Bring Back the Noise’. Taking a much more metalcore approach than the previous nu-metal track ‘Bring Back the Noise’ brings screeching riffs and desperate vocals to a rage filled execution. Toying with record scratching and vicious guitar slides, ‘Bring Back the Noise’ is full of experimental and emotional catharsis.
You can now listen to both tracks on all streaming platforms.
