Yesterday, Waterparks released an exciting music video to pair their latest single, 'Lowkey As Hell'.
The video has been produced by Shot Clock, and directed by the band's frontman, Awsten Knight. The entire video, accurately, fits Awsten's new rainbow coloured hairstyle, with an array of colourful flowers being the opening shot.
The style of the music video plays with surrealism, and has an, almost, hallucinogenic effect- with the band members being shrunk down in size and playing miniature instruments. The vibrant colour pallete teamed with the bizarre camera angles makes for an exciting and expressive video. Awsten, evidently, knew what he was doing with this direction, as the entire style, perfectly, suits the band's distinct use of keys and synths.
Whilst the 'Lowkey As Hell' video is a thrilling release from the band, it has left us questioning whether the trio will soon release a new album. An attribute of the band is to have a new colour scheme with each album, and this colour is reflected in Awsten's hair.
The latest single was released, shortly, after Awsten, spontaneously, cut his hair off in an Instagram live stream- this act signalled that something big from Waterparks was coming. The track is an expose of the lead singer's experience over the past year, and discusses the troubles of having wealth yet being alone, we see this in the lyrics- 'What's the point in being great if I'm alone?''
Now we are left questioning whether 'Lowkey As Hell' is the start of a new era, furthermore, whether there is a new album on the horizon- with a rainbow colour scheme?
