After releasing their latest single ‘Echoes of Desire’ in early May this year, ‘Temptation’ arrives as an exciting follow up. Having joined the roster for Forge Management, Pylon Poets are full of enthralling promises of new music, and big surprises throughout 2024. With 2 single releases so far this year, could this be the year that Pylon Poets treats us to another EP or, perhaps even, an album?
‘Temptation’ is full of persistently catchy guitar licks, combined with even more catchy lyrics. The lyrics pulled together in this track not only compose a sort of narrative but also fold together in an almost interrogative, yet playful manner: hence appropriately coinciding with the track's subject matter.
Teasing beats, and subtly seductive lyrics provide a sort of allure to this track, furthermore, engaging the listener not only throughout the song, but also providing an inclination to listen again. In ‘Temptation’, Pylon Poets interestingly toy with what can only be described as galactic sounding synths/keys, adding a fascinating instrumental layer to this release.
Although I can imagine hearing this track repeatedly blasting on the radio, there seems to be some layer of depth lacking. Whilst Pylon Poets playfully and charismatically charm us with catchy guitar licks and interesting synths, from my perspective there appears to be a level of gritty and heaviness lacking in this track. Furthermore, from my perspective, the teasing factor of ‘Temptation’ could have been satisfied and relieved with the addition of heavier instrumental and vocal moments.
