After a complete rollercoaster of a year, it only seems fitting that Twenty One Pilots provides us with a treat, right before Christmas. The track is titled 'Christmas Saves The Year', but here at ALTESCAPE_ we are arguing that Twenty One Pilots have saved the year!
It's safe to say that, this year, Christmas has lacked it's usual sparkle and cheer, and the holiday is creeping up on us way too quickly. However, the release on the 9th of December, swiftly moved us into a more festive mood. With it's entrancing, almost, mystical synths, and nostalgic lyrical work, Twenty One Pilots have taken us into a place of warmth, and homeliness.
The lyrics the duo works with in this release, are a perfect close to an unpredictable year. The line: 'Cause everybody wants to make it home this year/ Even if the world is crumbling down…', couldn't be more true, in the case of this year of isolated turmoil. Twenty One Pilots seek to bring optimism to their listeners, especially, in this time of annual reflection. On a whole, this optimism within the duo's original Christmas track, is well received and is an absolute boost to spirits in what seems like a never-ending, negative lull.
'Christmas Saves The Year' was recorded in Tyler Joseph's home studio, and the drop was announced via Twitter, with the simple statement: 'From us to you, Merry Christmas'.
The duo have released one other single this year, 'Level Of Concern', and after this festive single, fans are anticipating new music from them; truthfully, it can't come quick enough.
We are sending out Christmas wishes to Twenty One Pilots, and a bundle of gratitude for 'Christmas Saves The Year'. Also, a merry Christmas to all of our readers, and huge thanks for joining the ALTESCAPE_ journey!
