After Bring Me The Horizon's new single Teardrops was released on October 22nd, the band's fans have been in desperate anticipation waiting for their latest EP.
In a recent Instagram post BMTH said 'recording this EP in the midst of a pandemic has been the most creatively exciting experience we've had as a band in a while, going back to basics, learning how to adapt and be resourceful'. The EP was released today, and the band did not disappoint.
The EP kicks off with 'Dear Diary,' instantly fans are thrown back to Bring Me The Horizon's Post-core days, with iconic albums: 'Suicide Season', 'There Is A Hell Believe Me I've Seen it, There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret', and, of course, 'Sempiternal'. Listening though the EP, over and over, there is not one song that lets BMTH down.
Not only does the band give us a blast to the past, with the Post-core influences, the EP is guest filled, with special features: YUNGBLUD, Babymetal, Nova Twins and Evanescence's Amy Lee.
'Kingslayer' featuring Babymetal, is a perfect collaboration, with an equal mix of beat-backed electronic music, and BMTH's roots in Death-core/ Post-core metal. The song seems as though it could have a place on either a Babymetal or Bring Me The Horizon album, echoing the success of the collab.
Closing the EP is the beautifully crafted 'One Day the Only Butterflies Left Will Be in Your Chest as You March Towards Your Death': BMTH's song with guest feature Amy Lee. The collab is a complete contrast to the intensity of 'Kingslayer', with a more minimalistic atmosphere being created, and pairing perfectly with the tenderness of Amy Lee's voice.
Bring Me The Horizon are set to kick off their Post Human tour in June 2021. The tour will begin in Switzerland and close in London, September 2021.
Here at ALTESCAPE_ we could not have been more impressed with BMTH's new EP, and we hope we find ourselves lucky enough to attend a show on the Post Human tour.
