After releasing a string of singles in early 2023, Portside have released their latest track on the 11th of August. Breaking through a drizzly, grey UK summer, Portside bring the anthemic track ‘Mirror Mirror’ that demands to be heard at a blaringly, hot Pop-Punk festival.

Despairingly honest and depicting imagery of a brawl between two versions of yourself, ‘Mirror Mirror’ draws on personal and psychological battles. The single is a hopelessly, self-aware exploration into one's own flaws and the constant turmoil of recognising those flaws in other people. Throughout the narrative of ‘Mirror Mirror’, the listener is led to question whether the portrayed conflict is between another person or instead, an alter-ego/alternative version of yourself.
‘Mirror Mirror’ explicitly draws lyrical and vocal influences from the likes of Taylor Swift and Pale Waves, whilst toying with pop-punk and hardcore- esque riffs. This combination is astoundingly successful furthermore, in this Portside release we really start to witness the growth and mastering of the outfit's sound. Arguably, the only thing that could have made this track any better, would have been the use of some subtle metal vocals in the background.

For fans of The Story So Far, Knuckle Puck, As December Falls and Real Friends, Portside are tearing through Birmingham’s alternative scene with a distinct and restless sound.
You can listen to ‘Mirror Mirror’ now on all streaming platforms, and we’re hoping a Portside EP is on the horizon for later this year.
