'Better Without You' is an empowering detailing of Amy Lee's journey and struggles in the music industry. The track is a fierce declaration of independence. The lyrics: 'it makes me smile to know that I'm better without you' imply a sense of gratitude and contentment now that Evanescence can declare themselves independent artists- free from the constraints of a record label.
In previous releases, such as: 'Use My Voice', Evanescence have already taken on a hugely empowering role. 'The Bitter Truth', so far, seems to be an unapologetic drive for empowerment and independence. 'Use My Voice' features The Pretty Reckless' Taylor Momsen, and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm.
