On Tuesday this week, Machine Gun Kelly posed the long-awaited question to Transformer’s actress, Megan Fox.
After taking Megan to Puerto Rico to an exclusive wellness spa, Colson Baker (most well known as Machine Gun Kelly), popped the question under a banyan tree- a momentous place of romance for the couple. Megan Fox spoke in her latest Instagram post about asking ‘for magic’ back in 2020, sitting under the same tree.
MGK proposed with a striking emerald and diamond engagement ring, estimated to be worth a staggering $340,000. The artist worked with Stephen Webster, British top jeweller, to create an original, contempory design using the couple’s birthstones. Speaking on the intricate, unique design, Colson Baker said: ‘I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love’.
The proposal and engagement ring itself are undeniably, hopelessly romantic. And one can only begin to imagine the extravagance of the pairs wedding. There seems to be just one thing amiss.
In Megan Fox’s post, publicly announcing the proposal, she has managed to throw the entirety of the internet off guard with a single closing statement ‘...and then we drank each other’s blood’. Whilst we are aware that the couple have always, openly, engaged in a fiery, devilish partnership. The internet is still struck with bewilderment at the couple’s choice of celebration.
As the pair celebrate the early days of their engagement, the media is left hopelessly and desperately questioning whether the fiancées did in fact drink each other’s blood. Ultimately, it’s not completely out of the realms of possibility. Megan, herself, publicly acknowledged that the pair have ‘walked through hell together’, and their relationship is notably, one of great intensity. Speaking on this, MGK described the relationship as ‘ecstasy and agony’.
Alternatively, let’s consider publicity. The pair have an extraordinary public persona to keep up with. Is Megan just doing exactly that? Keeping in check with the edgy, anti-conformist profile that has been established? Or simply... a joke?
Either way, the couple have taken the media by storm.
