A feud supposedly started by a ‘fucking terrible’ guest verse. Machine Gun Kelly has an ongoing controversy, initially started by Corey Taylor’s planned feature in MGK’s latest album ‘Tickets To My Downfall’.

Corey’s verse was apparently no where near good enough to even be featured on the final cut of the track, and this is why the dispute began, right? Wrong. I think the feud is rooted much shallower than that, I think MGK’s childish outbursts against Slipknot are a pathetic consequence of jealousy at Corey’s undoubted success within the industry.

MGK openly dissed Slipknot on stage at Riot Fest in September. Unbelievably saying: “You wanna know what I’m really happy that I’m not doing? Being 50 years old wearing a fucking weird mask on a fucking stage, talking shit.” That’s all well and good for MGK to hate on a group of 50 year olds that still create neck breaking mosh pits, but in reality do we really think that MGK will have such a potent place in the industry when he hits 50?

If Machine Gun Kelly truly wanted to break into the alternative/ rock genres, why start by hating on today’s leaders of the metal scene? That’s one way to lose a hell of a lot of fans. As a rapper trying to diversify genres, MGK should have possessed the upmost respect for Slipknot- it’s just the kind of rivalry the man doesn’t need. Who wants to piss off a load of metal heads when your current main fans are teenage girls?

MGK is already starting to see the backlash from his unwise words. At the Louder Than Life festival, Machine Gun Kelly got booed by Slipknot fans and flipped off. This is just the start. MGK has completely shot himself in the foot trying to get into an alternative genre, whilst sparking a hatred with the entirety of the metal community. Well done.
