Marilyn Manson cannot continue to remain hidden by the nauseating protection of the music industry.
Brian Warner, known to the world as Marilyn Manson, is the music scene’s very own real-life monster. Not only does his attire and drained complexion resemble the archetypal 18th century vampire, but he also lived like one, specifically in his 2010 West Hollywood apartment. Reportedly, Manson’s home was full of blood, swastikas and snippets of pornographic photos, furnishings were all black and temperatures were kept below 65 degrees. This was not the most horrific thing about Brian Warner’s apartment.

It would be insufferable and unnecessary to further flesh out the lurid detail. Suffice to say, Marilyn Manson acted as the sick King of his own palace and was the dominator of anyone that entered.
The prior tenant of Manson’s apartment had hopes of producing electro-house music in the cramped glass container. Lamentably, Marilyn Manson did not have the same innocent goals. The ‘Bad Girl’s Room’: the container’s publicly known name. In 2012, Manson gloated in an interview about his ability to lock people in the booth, ‘if anyone’s bad’.
It has been common knowledge for almost 10 years that Manson had this solitary confinement cell, with the capability to entrap people, yet there was no formal investigation conducted after Brian Warner alluded to his shenanigans back in 2012. Just another example of the protective spell cast by the toxicity of the music industry.
The persona of Marilyn Manson was always intended to be anti-conformist, misogynistic, shocking, brutal, and demonic. That artistic façade should have remained a façade. But the Marilyn Manson mindset leaked into the brain of Brian Warner, and he has become precisely the monster that should have remained an act. Or has Brian Warner always had a mentally ill mind with psychotic tendencies with women, and the music industry has consistently branded and profited off his sickening nature? Delving into the stories of a young Brian Warner, reports suggest Warner was a peculiar character, mostly considered quiet, but radiated menace and sinister depth. At 18, Warner got a journalism gig covering music at 25th Parallel publication. Former editor Paul Gallotta, revealingly outlined his first impression of Brian Warner ‘He had a lot of anger and hostility, but he was a very quiet person; you know, the kind that you expect was going to be a serial killer someday’.
Not a killer just yet, but close enough. Just as disgusting. Brian Warner himself has admitted that he had an abusive relationship with his own mother. Despite being ‘kind of a mama’s boy’, Warner addresses that ‘it was kind of abusive- but on my part’. Perhaps, this motherly abuse set the precedent for Manson’s entire ongoing attitude towards women.
You can dwell on Brian Warner’s childhood and social environments, try to find something that has caused the actions of this despicable monster, or- like the music industry- make excuses to justify his behaviour. But the truth is: Marilyn Manson has always had a psychotic relationship with women.
Evan Rachel Wood. The first survivor to speak loud enough to even be noticed. Former fiancée of Manson, now 34 years old. The abuse started when she was a teen. Her whole life has been dominated by Manson’s psychological, physical, and sexual abuse.
In 2018, the actress publicly spoke out about torture that she had endured by a ‘man that claimed to love (her)’. It took until February 2021 for Evan to identify her abuser as no other than Marilyn Manson. The first accusation spurred at least 4 other women to address the vile treatment induced by Manson. Survivors include model and actress, Sarah Mcneilly, model, Ashley Morgan Smithline, Manson’s former assistant, Ashley Walters, and artist, Gabriella. These were the initial women that spoke out about Manson. Since then, numbers have horrifically grown to more than a dozen, including Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco.
It seems immoral to not individually illustrate each of the survivor's stories. But there are so many equally revolting tales of Marilyn Manson’s induced torture.
Sickeningly, individually harrowing, yet some things never change with Manson. He seemingly has an abhorrent routine with each woman. Love struck. Whirlwind. Passion. Manipulation. Control.
Blood Pact.
Rape.
Abuse.
The blood pact. Sadistic. Each of the accusers experienced Manson’s vampiristic ritual usually within 2 weeks or less of dating. Ashley Morgan Smithline described the blood pact: ‘He cut me on my stomach and then drank my blood. Then he had me drink his’. Less well-known accuser, Gabriella, an artist, revealed that on their second meeting Manson demanded the blood pact, cutting both of their hands with a broken wine glass.
In response to over a dozen women that have detailed his torturous abuse, Marilyn Manson posted a statement via Instagram. ‘Obviously, my life and my art have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners’. Complete denial. A monster in broad day light.
Despite being deluged with sexual abuse and trafficking allegations, Marilyn Manson was still nominated for a Grammy, due to his contributions on Kanye West’s album, ‘Donda’. Grammy’s chief Harvey Mason Jr went to the extent of defending Manson’s nomination, claiming ‘We won’t look at people’s history’. This is- despite its hypocritical claims of righteousness- an industry that enables criminals, to make profits. Not only this, but on Halloween Sunday Manson attended Kanye West’s livestreamed Sunday service, alongside the likes of Justin Bieber. Manson’s entire ideology is based around an anti-conformist, anti-religion mindset: hypocrite. Ashley Morgan Smithline declared that seeing Manson be party to such events was ‘just like being retraumatised’.
After, being dropped by his label back in February, finally more action has been taken against Brian Warner. In the last few days of November, Manson's home was raided by the Los Angeles County Sherrif’s department, allegedly ‘media storage units, including hard drives’ were seized to further investigate sexual abuse charges.
Charges are still going through courts, and survivors will be tormented with their horrific memories of Marilyn Manson indefinitely. I can only hope that the women are granted the justice they deserve.
Until then let's get it right. Marilyn Manson the monster the music industry monetised.
